The
Golden Retriever Dog Knocker was designed by Michael
Healy, an accomplished Rhode Island artisan known
for his Unique Door Knockers.
Michael has always enjoyed the company of dogs and is intrigued by the unique
qualities of each breed.
He has always felt that Golden Retrievers are an unparalleled breed for their
kindness and obedience. In fact, the breed was developed in England in the 1800s
for just those qualities.
Michael
chose to recognize this remarkable animal for
its notable participation in police work and
as a guide dog for the blind. Though sometimes
startling, like a knock on the door, the German
Shepherd’s bark is really just announcing
the arrival of a friend.
